About Reinforced Concrete (RC)

Reinforced concrete is one of the most popular products in our range.

Reinforced concrete is a type of concrete, which has been strengthened by adding steel reinforcement (usually as either steel bars (rebar), mesh, or fibres). This gives the material a combination of the strength of concrete, and the tensile properties of the steel.

As a result, it can withstand a wide range of different types of structural stress.

Although concrete has an extremely high compressive strength (it can withstand heavy downward forces), it has a comparatively weak tensile strength. This means that, when pulled or bent, the concrete is much more prone to cracking or breaking.

For reinforced concrete, steel reinforcement is added to the concrete before it sets, to increase the concrete’s tensile strength, to match its compressive strength.
The result is a high performance composite material with fantastic strength, which is ideally suited for use in load-bearing structures.
