FOAM CONCRETE
iMix is trusted, experienced suppliers of concrete services for customers throughout London, Kent and Essex areas, and we also include foam concrete in our array of services.
Why foam concrete?
Foamed concrete provides a number of benefits, particularly in the vein of the insulation of noise and heat. The low-density concrete is designed specifically for void filling, stabilisation and can also be used to insulate floors and roofs, thanks to its fluidity.
Whether a trench needs refilling or an old basement needs to be filled, the expanding foam concrete can do just that, being a highly workable, low-density product (up to 80% air), meaning it is generally self-levelling and pumpable. Foam concrete is particularly used in road work applications, where trenches need to be temporarily filled while still provided a strong base, allowing them to be easily removed at a later date.
What is the strength of foam concrete?
Final dry densities for foam concretes with exceptional performance are between 100 and 300 kg/m³ lower than normal depending on the prevailing conditions. Compressive strengths can range anywhere from 0.5 N/mm² to 5N/mm, but most foams have around 25-30N in their cubes when they reach optimum density before curing begins.
