Concrete is known for its strength and resilience, but when you need a little extra reinforcement, fibre concrete is the way to go. From flooring to pavements, it offers reinforcement that protects the whole surface giving extra abrasion resistance. Poly fibres are also commonly used in the screed to prevent shrinkage and cracking.

Fibre concrete is a special kind of lightweight aggregate concrete with additional fibres that are added into the mix. It is manufactured for applications in which low density, but high strength, materials are required. Standard lightweight aggregate concretes have densities usually below 680 kg/m³ (approx 50 pcf). Fibre concretes on the other hand reach strengths up to 120 N/mm² and densities around 1 000 – 1 150 kg/m³ (approx 75 – 90 pcf), depending on the type of fibre used.

It also helps to protect against freeze-thaw damage and shrinkage, which can otherwise severely compromise the integrity of a concrete structure or surface.

For extra reinforcement, iMix Concrete offer a popular alternative to using reinforcing mesh. Our Forta fibres significantly improve the concretes abrasive and residual strength. Unlike steel reinforcement, there are no problems with corrosion. These forta fibres may be used to add reinforcement to mixes where none is present or to partially replace traditional steel reinforcement.
