Self-Compacting Concrete Suppliers

Self-compacting concrete is a mix that is designed to be able to flow under its own weight. This means that it does not require the same input that other types of concrete do when it comes to compacting and placement.

Here at iMix Concrete we use Cemfloor High Performance Concrete (HPC), for our self-compacting concrete – to place your order or get a quote, give us call on 0808 196 7812 or send us a message on our contract form.

We cover across London, Kent, Essex and the surrounding areas – for projects of any size.

Flowing out of a concrete pump, self-compacting concrete is ideal for projects where concrete needs to be placed around awkward obstacles such as pipes and underfloor heating. Thanks to the additions of superplasticisers, it is extremely fluid, which allows it to flow around these obstacles, removing the need for awkward pours. Once cured, it provides a high level of strength and durability.

Thanks to self-compacting concrete, you can create a final finished floor, without the need for screeding. Self-compacting concrete is also know as flowing concrete.

Cemfloor High Performance Concrete (HPC)

We use Cemfloor High Performance Concrete (HPC), it is a specially formulated self-compacting concrete that is used to create strong and durable floor slabs with less shrinkage and increased bay sizes to minimise joints, compared to those constructed with conventional concrete.

Cemfloor HPC is highly suitable for all commercial and industrial projects.

Benefits

  • Fluid concrete ensures full compaction throughout the concrete
  • Easy installation allows large areas to be poured quickly
  • No vibration or power floating required
  • High quality finish is achieved
  • Reduced labour required for installation compared to traditional concrete
  • Possible to eliminate steel mesh reinforcement

Technical Details

  • High fluidity ensures excellent pumping characteristics
  • Compressive strength at 28 days – Minimum 35N/mm2
  • Drying Shrinkage – Less than 500 micron/metre
  • Floor finish tolerance to BS 8204 – 1 SR2 SPECIFICATION
  • Improved flexural strength
  • Reduced risk of cracking
  • Flow range – 650 – 750mm
  • Minimum thickness – 50mm
  • Maintenance of fluidity – 3 hours

Advantages of Self-Compacting Concrete

There is normally a number of issues associated with using vibrating equipment in tandem with concrete, with self-compacting concrete these problems don’t exist. Traditional vibrated concrete is not able to be used as quickly as self-compacting concrete is in the construction process.

Self-compacting concrete is permeable and can be moulded into complex shapes and structures with ease. The passing ability allows it to flow without the need for any segregation, reducing labour time.

Uses of Self-Compacting Concrete

  • Retaining walls and structures which can support soil, these tend to last up to 100 years if the conditions are suitable
  • Concrete columns, which are reinforced with the purpose of supporting whole buildings. These can be constructed using a variety of shapes and are usually either double or single storey in height
  • Drilled shafts or also known as drilled piers. These are made using excavation equipment and can keep up vast lateral loads, providing a stable foundation solution
  • Repairs and restoration of existing buildings
  • Piled raft foundations

iMix Concrete are proud to provide Cemfloor (HPC) in use for our performance self-compacting concrete – on supply for projects of all kinds throughout London, Kent, Essex and the surrounding areas.

Concrete Calculator

Working out the amount of concrete you need for a job can be difficult to do, especially if it’s your first time using it for a project. Ending up with too much concrete volume can be unnecessarily costly, and ending up with too little means delays to your work. Luckily, our concrete calculator (UK) solves all your estimation problems and lets you know exactly how much concrete you’ll need for your project.

Whether it’s the amount of ready mixed concrete to be used for concrete slabs, or working out how much needs to be combined with coarse aggregate, we’ve got the solution.

To place your order or to discuss your requirements further please contact our friendly team today who will be happy to help with the concrete mix calculator.
