About FND3 Concrete
Foundation concrete (also commonly referred to as FND) is a concrete variety that meets the British standard BS 8500.
These concrete types are designed to be used in ground conditions where sulphate or other concrete-attacking chemicals are present in the soil. They contain sulphate-resistant cement, to ensure dependable resistance in these otherwise-compromising environments.
FND3 is a specialist type of foundation grade concrete, which is suitable for DC-3 soils.
These soils present a higher sulphate risk, the environments are more aggressive, as a result of either a higher sulphate concentration, wetter soil or more reactive soil.
This concrete type has a strength of ~30 N/mm² at 28 days, and is ideally suited for use in sites where there are more aggressive ground conditions, ensuring an increased, dependable level of protection for the structure.
Benefits & Use Cases
Its high level of resistance means that FND3 concrete is ideal for use in conditions where an enhanced sulphate resistance is needed. This includes environments where the clay or soil has a moderate level of sulphate, or is generally more reactive.
As a result, it is widely used in domestic, commercial and light industrial projects, which require a higher level of chemical resistance.
