About FND4 Concrete
Foundation concrete (also known as FND) is a concrete variety that meets the British standard BS 8500. It is a specialist type of concrete, which is designed to be used in harsh ground conditions, where sulphate or other concrete-attacking chemicals are present.
Foundation concrete contains sulphate-resistant cement, to give the content fantastic durability and resistance to these challenging environments.
FND4 is a specialist type of foundation grade concrete, which is suitable for DC-4 soils. This is the most resistant of all the commonly available foundation grade concrete types, with the ability to withstand the harshest conditions.
DC-4 soils are aggressive, with a high sulphate concentration or a high chemical exposure.
So, FND4 concrete grade consists of specialist sulphate resistant cements. Plus, FND4 concrete has a typical strength of ~40 N/mm² at 28 days. These qualities give it a fantastic resistance to chemical attacks, and a long predicted lifespan even in these harsh soils.
